The Mawlynnong Cooperative Society promotes sustainable tourism by raising awareness of the community with messaging around cleanliness – emphasizing the collective responsibility for keeping the community pristine. With homestays in the village, tourists experience this level of sustainable tourism firsthand and are encouraged to contribute to community standards.
The village has been dubbed “Asia’s Cleanest Village” – promoting a sustainable and environmentally conscious way of living for local communities and tourists.
