Mexico aims to develop effective and actionable ecosystem-based adaptation measures in partnership with community members.

INITIATIVE

The Ministry of Tourism launched the Adaptur Project to bring together the private sector and public sector to support tourism companies in their journey to protect the natural assets and services provided by the ecosystem.

• 1. Implement Climate Change Adaptation measures based on Ecosystems (EbA) including joint solutions with the private sector in Mexico, with a focus on the tourism sector.
• 2. It has obtained important achievements such as advocacy on public tourism and climate change policies at the national and sub-national levels. Implementation of Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA) measures financed by the private tourism sector, development of technical instruments, knowledge management platform, development of technical tools and strategic alliances.

IMPACT

500 people across five pilot sites received technical training on best practices for planning and implementation of participatory environmental measures.
